A Message from your President

Mary Spikes, FHCACA President

I am extremely honored to have been elected as President of FHCACA and to accept the responsibilities that your trust has entitled me.

I could not help but look back on when this association was started in 1974.  There was no HCFA, No CMS, No AHCA, no Medicare, no MDS or PPS, and ALF’s hadn’t been invented yet.. We have come a long way in the health care field

I want to express my deepest gratitude to this association which made me the person I am today.

My appeal to you, our members, is to be open and responsive. Be Team players. Remember, you should participate in the lives of other people because your help may become crucial for the success of another person.

This is like a relay race you should pass the baton, and then your team will win. Let others feel the excitement like you do now. Be responsive and open as we all live in the world where all resources go around.

I feel that I am important and my contribution is essential.  I want to thank the past president for her sterling work for the organization.

You the members can help improve the organization, and I, as the President, can achieve a successful future.

My goals this year, with the help of the members are:

·         To increase our fundraising for educational purposes,

·         To  brainstorm  solutions

·         To increase our membership

·         To  bring the  board meetings into the regions

·         To  hold round table  discussions

I want each of us to live on the east side of the mountain; it’s the sunrise side, not the sunset side. It is the side to see the day that is coming, not to see the day that has gone.

We are the association of ideas and innovation; the association of idealism and inclusion. The association of a simple and powerful hope.

I believe true leadership is a process of addition, not an act of division.  I am looking forward to an exciting year.
